The Shape of Water
I hate science fiction, so I was pleasantly surprised when this film was not the creepy, sci-fi story the trailers promoted. (Well, ok it is a little creepy.) Sally Hawkins gives a heartfelt performance as the lonely janitor at a top-secret research facility in the 1960s who establishes a relationship with the mysterious creature being held there.
The Greatest Showman
So fun! Takes some liberties with the actual facts of P.T. Barnum’s life, but who cares? Hugh Jackman (Barnum), Keala Settle (bearded lady), and Zac Efron (Phillip Carlyle) are especially wonderful.
With the exception of a few aerial stunts, this original musical could easily be staged as a Broadway production. Songs by the La La Land team.
The Disaster Artist
Soooooooo bad, despite James Franco’s Golden Globe (undeserved btw.) Another example of Hollywood’s obsession with their own industry, and the occasional risk of saying Yes!
