A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
It is not too late to indulge in a final bit of escape fiction before you launch into your serious Fall reads.
For this last gasp of summer, I recommend the utterly charming novel, A Man Called Ove by Swedish author Fredrik Backman.
Ove is a curmudgeonly Saab driving widower whose reclusive life is upturned when a young couple and their two and a half children move in next door.
After an unceremonious introduction (they run over his mailbox on moving day,) Ove is inexorably drawn into their jolly, chaotic orbit. Privacy, rules, and pet free zones become a thing of the past as Ove discovers what it means to be part of a community.
