If with the conclusion of Season Three of Downton Abbey you are missing your weekly dose of Maggie Smith (a/k/a Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham), you can catch the indomitable Ms. Smith on the big screen in another tart-tongued role.
Like the film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, in which Ms. Smith also stars, Quartet features of a group of British retirees. In this case, the senior citizens are all former professional musicians. The music is gorgeous, and the setting in a former English country estate is much grander than the Hotel Marigold!
Not a wildly gripping story line, but a pleasant film with a veteran cast. Billy Connolly (Mrs. Brown) is particularly good as a randy retiree.
