The Crowded Grave by Martin Walker
I was disappointed in this police procedural by Martin Walker which takes place in the Dordogne area of France. Featuring Chief of Police Bruno Courreges, I hoped this “mystery of the French countryside” would be similar to the Louise Penny series set in rural Quebec. Sadly, not.
In The Crowded Grave, nonsensical (and to an American– confusing) jurisdictional disputes between various French law enforcement agencies take precedence over crime solving.
This is the 5th in the series, and as such may not be reflective of the series in its entirety. If you read or have read one of the earlier novels, let me know what you think.
