The Man in the Wooden Hat by Jane Gardam (Book 2)

Don’t you occasionally wonder how your spouse experiences your mutual milestones as well as the minutia of your everyday life?  In Gardam’s two linked novels, Old Filth and The Man in the Wooden Hat, she explores the Feathers’ fifty-year marriage from each spouse’s perspective. 

Old Filth was Sir Edward Feathers’ story; The Man in the Wooden Hat is his wife Betty’s.   The combination of the two provides a fascinating, if slightly disquieting portrait of a marriage. 

I suggest reading the novels in the order in which they were published.
