Life After Life by Kate Atkinson

Don’t you wonder what might have happened if you had married another, spoken sooner, or taken a different route home?   Ursula Todd, the protagonist of Kate Atkinson’s new novel Life after Life, experiences all these options for as Ursula lives, she dies—repeatedly– and is reborn just in time to make another choice.  

With each rebirth, Ursula, her siblings, her parents, and her friends face a different outcome.  The novel takes place in England in the first half of the last century with a special emphasis on the WWII years.

Despite the premise, this highly imaginative novel is not creepy, but suspenseful, witty, and poignant.
