The Examiner

The Examiner by Janice Hallett

I loved The Examiner, a fiendishly clever epistolary novel. I read the book in a weekend, and was repeatedly flummoxed by the plot’s twists and turns.

Six students are accepted to the new master’s program in Multimedia Art at Royal Hastings University. For Professor Gela Nathaniel, it is imperative that the program succeed if she is to retain her university funding. Accordingly, she selects her students with care, but really, what was her criteria? The students range from odd to decidedly unqualified.

It will be a challenging year for all concerned, not counting the murder.

Hallett is the author of another excellent, similarly structured novel, The Appeal.
