The Hazelbourne Ladies

The Hazelbourne Ladies Motorcycle and Flying Club by Helen Simonson

Like many young women in post WWI England, Constance Haverhill is unemployed. Having taken a job as an estate manager during the war, she is expected to give it up to a returning veteran. Despite her skills, her employment options are limited to governess or wife.   While mulling these less than satisfactory choices, she takes a temporary job in Hazelbourne-on-Sea as a lady’s companion.

There she finds a group of young women who are defying expectations, running a business, riding motorcycles, and wearing trousers. One of her new friends also has a handsome brother!

A charming work of historical fiction. If you liked Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand then you will enjoy this one too.
