The Mudflats Murder Club (Book 1) by Brian Thiem

Former homicide detective and widower Sean Tanner recently moved to a posh retirement community in Spartina Island. Not long after his arrival, he is invited to join the Mudflats Murder Club, a group of law enforcement retirees who assist the local cops with cold cases. The local cops, especially Charlotte “Charlie” Nash, are not sure they need help from a bunch of oldsters, but their boss is a fan.

While the MMC is investigating a thirty-eight-year-old cold case, one of Sean’s neighbors is murdered. Inevitably the two cases tie together, and “Charlie” becomes a fan and maybe more.

This series lacks the wit and clever plotting of the superior Thursday Murder Club series but may have potential.
