The Impossible Fortune (Book 5) by Richard Osman
I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I pre-ordered (full price), a hardback copy of the latest Thursday Murder Club Mystery and read it in two days. (Ok, I am not that embarrassed.) Sooo excited to rejoin the gang at Coopers Chase Retirement Village.
For retirees, the four octogenarians are rather busy. Joyce is gleefully planning a wedding. Ron is feeling his age as he decides how to help his family out of a dangerous pickle. Ibrahim offers the rehabilitated (not) drug dealer Connie therapeutic advice which Connie willfully but cheerily misinterprets. Former spy Elizabeth spearheads the foursome’s latest investigation after she is approached for help by a young man who subsequently disappears.
Brimming with Osman’s trademark wry humor and an unpredictable but credible denouement.
The books are soooo much better than the Netflix movie–don’t bother—and read the novels in order.
